BROWLIFT SURGERY PROCEDURE OVERVIEW
Am I a good candidate for Browlift surgery?
Any one with one of the following conditions may be a good candidate for a Browlift, also known as a Forehead Lift:
· sagging or low position of the eyebrows, creating a tired or sad appearance
· deep horizontal creases across the forehead
· frown lines, or furrows, between the eyebrows and sometimes across the top of the nose
· sunken or hollow temples
Browlift surgery will elevate the eyebrows into a more pleasing position. The appropriate contour helps open the eye and results in a more youthful appearance. At the same time, the muscles that furrow the eyebrow and wrinkle the forehead can be modified to reduce the occurrence or development of those aging lines of the upper face.
It all starts with an effective evaluation and consultation!
In evaluating you for Browlift surgery, Dr. Dedo or Dr. Lipan will determine your goals and conduct an examination of your facial bone structure, muscle and fascia qualities, brow position, hairline, eye and eyelid characteristics, skin thickness, texture, and elasticity. Combining this information with the desired results you share with the doctor, a personalized treatment plan will be developed just for you. There are many techniques in performing a Browlift and Dr. Dedo and Dr. Lipan will review the one best suited to your needs.
The consultation may utilize a state of the art computer imaging system to simulate your anticipated results. This helps communicate the desired results between you and the doctor. Combining computer imaging with your needs and physical exam results, Dr. Dedo or Dr. Lipan will develop and share with you a recommended treatment plan personalized specifically for you.
How is a Browlift performed?
In some cases, an incision is made across the top of the scalp, beginning above the ears and hidden within the hair. The traditional Browlift allows manipulation of muscles that cause wrinkling and frown lines and lift your eyebrows to a more pleasing level. The exact location of the incision will be determined based on your features and the results you desire. When fully healed a Browlift incision is nearly invisible.
Minimally Invasive Browlift:
Alternatively, a Browlift procedure can be performed with endoscopic scopes and cameras through five small incisions hidden in your hairline. The minimally invasive Browlift technique allows manipulation of muscles that cause wrinkling and frown lines and lift your eyebrows to a more pleasing level, just like a traditional procedure but with less scaring due to the smaller incisions. During your personal consultation, Dr. Dedo or Dr. Lipan will explain their rationale for the best technique for you.
